Word of the Day – “bieten”

Hello everyone,

and welcome to our German Word of the Day. This time, with a look at the meaning of

bieten

And that verb really has a lot to … ahem offer. Because not only does it literally mean to offer, you also get a whole bundle of really cool fascinating related words and prefix versions. And I can promise you that much: even if you are absolutely crushing it at German and you think you’ve seen it all, there will be a couple of surprises for you there.
And to top it all of, you’ll also learn about the origin of the family, which features a very very very very enlightened member.
So are you ready to jump in?
bet7 Great then let’s go.

A new Feature and a Question

bet7Hi everyone,

so after a forced creative break in August, I am taking a little voluntary creative break now.
Well, that’s not completely accurate actually, because I am editing old articles. And man… some were REALLY way to long :). If you want a list of the edited ones, let me know in the comments.

bet7The one I am editing at the moment is the one about Main Sentences and I actually had kind of a little epiphany.

Word of the Day – “unbedingt”

*I know there’s a typo, I’m too lazy to do it again

Hi guys,

and back :)! Hooray!!
August kinda sorta low key sucked, because I was sick. Not what I had planned at all, but hey, that’s what happens if you don’t listen to your body and mind.
I mean, sometimes when we get sick, it’s just bad luck and risk of life, but sometimes, we have some part in it, and so by getting sick we basically also get a much needed nudge to make changes and be happier, healthier and sexier for it. And with more abs and chest muscles.
Anyway, so summer is over and I’m sure most of you are really hyped up to really get back to learning German.
And today we’ll take a look at a word that is just PERFECT if someone asks you if you want to learn some words. So get ready for a look at the meaning of

unbedingt

When I first started looking into this Saturday morning, I immediately spotted the bed in unbedingt. A first lead! But it led nowhere. Because the real core is something different, and I’m almost sure you guys have seen it already… the word Ding.

Let’s practice “doch”

Hello everyone,

and welcome back to a new week of learning German. Hooray.
And this week, I have something really special for you. Something that I wanted to share for a long time…
drum roll please..

an exercise about “doch”

One of the main things I am working on this year is adding these little quizzes to the articles. Like… to all of them.
At the moment, I have around 130 quizzes up, so it’s still a long way and it does take quite a bit of time because I often also review the old articles and give them a little do-over. Or a big do-over. Some really needed a good review and trimming :).
But yeah, I’m slowly and steadily adding more and I actually found a really talented freelancer who helps me come up with ideas.

And she is also the one who came up with this really amazing concept for the exercise about doch.
The article on doch is one of my favorite articles ever, and I’ve wanted to have an exercise for doch for a long time but I could never think of a way that makes sense.
So when I saw her basic idea, I was REALLY excited and that’s why I wanted to share this one with all of you and get your thoughts on it.
So are you ready?
Cool.
